Windows PE 2.0 - Can I run Explorer?

Hi -

I have created a Windows PE 2.0 Boot disk, but Explorer and most of the of
the other built in windows programs will not run by typing their executable
at the command prompt. Notepad, and a few others work.

The documentation says that PE will run applications, but it doesn't say how
to do this. Almost nothing at all on WWW concerning using PE 2.0.

Anyone here using PE 2.0 know how to make applications run under this?

Well... there are forums out "there" for WinPE. Google it. I haven't
searched for info on 2.0 yet... but I have built 2.0 CD's and, no, neither
Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer are available out of the box. I think
folks got at least IE working on downlevel versions of PE, but this, I
think, is a whole new ballgame.

I found a WinExplorer replacement that works in 2.0... Salamander. Drop it
in Program Files when building the CD. Remember too, that PE 2.0 is also
BETA code. I've used WinBatch in all prior versions of PE but have not been
able to get it to work in PE 2.0. RC1 indicates far less errors when running
Dependency Walker, but enough errors (2) to prevent WinBatch from working on
PE 2.0. Sigh.

I do like the real-time PnP in 2.0. Very cool.
