I came across a first generation digital camera I have and then I came
across the box and CD, so I wanted to give it to a friend, but
couldn't find the owner's manual, and couldn't figure it out. I also
seemed to need drivers to connect to the USB.
I looked on the CD for the drivers and the owners manaul, even
installed the software on the CD in case it was hidden in a .cab file
that I couldn't see inside, but all I got were photo and video viewer
software. Then I searched the web. Maybe I found it on one of those
strange driver sites, but it didnt' seem to download to the usual
place. So I searched my computer for StyleCam. Nothing. Finally I
searched it for Sipix, and found in D:\Windows\Twain_32 a Sipix
folder, and in that was the folder SCBLINK2 and in it found a pdf file
for the owner's manual.
Who would look in D:\Windows\Twain_32\Sipix\SCBLINK2 for the owner's
manual?
--end rant --
Boring follow-up:
Not only that I never installed this software in D-WinXP, and that
folder only has two files. When I checked C-win98, I see that the
same folder has 11 files, inc. one of each kind needed to run
something. It's pretty clear to me that the File and Settings
Transfer Wizard copied the two files from the Twain_32/Sipix folder,
but not the other 9 and not the drivers,.... I guess because the
drivers would be different, and maybe the other 9 would be also! But
I think FASTW installed other software??, and I didn't have a list or
take the time to see what happened to everything. I still don't know
from what I installed it, but maybe I can figure it out. Gosh, this
is compliated. And I still don't think the manual should be in the
Twain_32/Sipix folder although it did make a Start/All Programs
shortcut in win98 that pointed here. I often don't look there.
