Windows open in a small size when opened

Dear All,
Whenever I start a new program or open another window in an application they
open in a very small size and need to be enlarged. Is there any way of
setting how big a window opens when I open it?
All suggestions welcomed.

Right click the program executable and select Properties. Then select the
window size you would like it to open in.

For desktop folders, ie: Control Panel, Network, My Compter, Recycle Bin

select - Start/Control Panel - with the open window, maximize it, then
select from the menu - Tools/Folder Options - click the "View" tab, under
Folder Views - click "Apply to Folders" button.

repeat same steps for other Desktop Folders.

restart your pc for changes to take effect.
