Hi,
I have a Toshiba M30 laptop that just died, and I'm probably not going to
fix it. The version of Windows XP home it comes with is combined in their
product recovery CD that can only be used on a toshiba computer. Since I
have technically paid for this version of Windows, is it possible to obtain a
new CD from microsoft so I can transfter this copy of windows to another
computer.

No. The license died with your laptop.

Hi Chris,

Sorry but no, a limitation of the OEM license version of WindowsXP that you
got with the Toshiba is that it is not transferable to another machine. Nor
does Microsoft supply replacement media for OEM versions even if it were.

No. The Toshiba OEM license died with the demise of the computer.

Sorry but the terms of that OEM license specify it dies with the
computer. It can't be transferred.
