Windows Mobile DST Update Error with Vista and Outlook 2007

I am cross-posting this in the hopes that it will help other people having
the same problem. When I tried to install the Windows Mobil DST fix, I kept
getting the error "microsoft activesync or windows mobile device center
software is required to install this software".

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate, Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate and
Microsoft OneCare, and have my Palm Treo 700W recognized by WMDC and syncing
properly to my Outlook.

I tried disabling the OneCare Antivirus and Firewall, but to no avail. I
finally disabled UAC (User Access Control), and voila, after restarting the
update ran fine.

I have the same problem as the rest of you, and to me it looks like Windows
Mobile Device Center just will not recognize the phone, as if the wrong
drivers are installed. I also have the Treo 700W but force to use Verizon
wireless sync as my main backup.
