Windows Mobile Device Driver Install Fails

My IPAQ hx2495 works fine when used with my old XP laptop. My new HP laptop
that came preloaded with Vista Home Premium fails to install the windows
mobile device drivers for the IPAQ. WMP can see the IPAQ and I can access
the files on both the device and the storage card. Looking at the error on
the driver install for the mobile device all it says is unable to open
device. I have installed the latest WMDC and any other Vista updates. I
have the current firmware installed on my IPAQ as well. Is anyone else out
there having this same issue? Is this something Microsoft is working on? HP
says it is a Microsoft issue and Microsoft says it is an HP issue due to the
OEM OS. Can someone help me , please??

Since it is an HP machine with a HP Ipaq I would say it is HP's problem,
they are the ones you call for Vista support and for Ipaq support.

Been there, done that. HP laptop support says to contact IPAQ support or
Microsoft. IPAQ support says to contact laptop support. Microsoft says it
is an HP problem due to the OEM version of Vista installed on my laptop. No
one will help and I can't find any answers. Since I have seen others able to
connect their IPAQ's to Vista without problems, I am thinking some setting
must be wrong, but no one will suggest anything or even try to help. My IPAQ
has WM5.0 which should work.
