Windows messinger persists in starting each time I boot. How can I stop
this. I would also like to completely remove it. Is this possible?

Open messenger, tools, options,in the properies box, uncheck "allow this to
run in background" also uncheck "load on start up",close out, restart
computer.
You can/could remove it,add/remove programs,windows components,uncheck
the box for messenger, however its not recommended, the 2 unchecked boxes
does the job.

To disable "Windows Messenger":

Open "Windows Messenger" and from the Toolbar select
Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck:

"Run this program when Windows starts" and
"Allow this program to run in the background", then
click OK.

Next, open Outlook Express and from the Toolbar select
Tools > Options and under the General tab uncheck
"Automatically log on to Windows Messenger" and click
APPLY.

No, you cannot remove Windows Messenger from Add/Remove; anyway, not without
making a certain attribute change in a certain Windows folder file.

If you have Ad-Aware SE Personal installed , go then to their website
and download the Plug-in called "Messenger-Control Plug-in"!!
