Windows Messenger will not load at bootup

I installed MSN Messenger, then decided I did not want it
and uninstalled it. But now, Windows Messenger no longer
loads and automatically signs on when I boot up as it did
before.

Even checking the option "run Windows Messenger when
Windows Starts" does not place the Messenger Icon in the
Sytem tray at boot up.

How can I once again get Windows Messenger to load
automatically when I boot up?
Thanks,

Greetings,

To fix this, make sure the Windows Messenger isn't running, then start the registry editor by
clicking Start, then Run, type "regedit" and then click OK. Navigate to the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MessengerService key (they look like folders), click the
MessengerService key, then choose the Edit menu, and then choose Delete.

This does load Messenger at startup and signs me in, but
I still don't see the icon on the system tray unless I
specifically tap on it in the Start menu. How do I get
the icon back?
