windows messenger update

i just download the latest windows messenger update after
i couldn't get rid of the little popup asking me to
update each time i logged on to the internet. but now my
ani-popup software won't let me into IE or mozilla with
out disableing the popup software. how do i get rid of
this latest update for windows messenger? i would like to
keep windows messenger but not the update.

Open the Services window (services.msc).
Double-click the Messenger entry in the list.
Click Stop to close the service.
Select Disabled from the Startup type list to prevent it
from loading automatically the next time Windows starts.
Close the Services window when you're done

does NOT affect youe Msn Im Messenger

Greetings,

To undo a messenger update, you can use System Restore. To do so, click Start, then Help &
Support, then "Undo changes to my computer using System Restore" and go through the wizard to
restore your computer to a previous point before the upgrade.

thanks john, it worked, didn't think restore would do it
because the update became part of the system. called ms
today too, they didn't have a clue.
