Windows Messenger under Internet Explorer 6 Tools

I

Ivan

Hi there,

Does anyone know that why there is a sudden Windows Messenger link in my
Internet Explorer 6 Tools menu.

I have not installed Windows Messenger in that machine. Does it related to
Windows XP SP3 or hotfix?

And how to hide this?

Please advise?

Thanks Ivan

Greetings Ivan,

This is actually the way XP arrives out of the box, although it's likely something else put
it back if you've removed it in the past.

If you start the Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and then head over to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions
and just click the various keys under that until you find the Windows Messenger one and
remove it. It should be:
{FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} though.

Just restart IE after that and it'll be gone.
