I am unable to open any Adobe files...every time I try to open it, Windows
Installer opens up and tries to install Windows Messenger. I re-downloaded
Adobe Acrobat 7.0, I downloaded Messenger, but still it continues to do it.
If I cancel it, it tries to install again and again, with an error message at
the end reading:

Windows Messenger 5.0
An error occured during the installation of assembly component
{874793FC-5F43-496A-8FE7-18C4DB9B143D}HRESULT -2147024864

I have to go into task manager to end the task. I need to get into Adobe
Acrobat..how do I get this to stop?

Thanks!

open IE, go to tools , internet options, programs and see what your editors
are and messenger service and turn off the offending one
