Windows Media Player won't open

I've tried playing videos and I've tried opening it from
the Programs menu, but I can't get it to open.

Any suggestions?

mine messed up like that last week,had spyware,ad aware

removed it but still couldn't open 9,had to delete it
from add/remove then reload it from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/play

Don't forget the patches:
There are two updates for Windows Media Player - one
which is a critical patch (828026) and one (832353) which
fixes problems with URL script commands after
installation of 828026 as well as this problem here:
(830846) Windows Product Updates May Stop Responding or
May Use Most or All the CPU Resources.
