Hi,

Most likely something running in the WinME system is interfering with the
installed. Empty all \temp folders and turn every other running program off,
*expecially* antivirus and disk management software (think third party stuff
like Norton's). Hit ctrl+alt+delete and "end task" on everything except
explorer. If you have a third party CD burning program installed, uninstall
it first.

See Gary Woodruff's site for info on upgrading
http://www.aumha.org/a/xpupgrad.htm

Ensure that you backup important data first, ensure you have XP drivers for
your NIC and/or modem so you can get on line after, do a proper disk cleanup
including running the Upgrade Advisory to ensure your software and hardware
meet the challenge of upgrading, uninstall what can't meet the challenge
BEFORE you upgrade, dump your recycle bin, empty temp files and run defrag.

Remember that upgrading your operating system is not like install an
application. Backup, Backup, Backup!
