Because, it doesn't include Linux.
Linux users are aware of such facts, and are probably artificially
driving up the numbers.
Look at the poll on that site about browsers.
Almost 90% prefer a non-IE browser.
That's a very skewed result.
You gotta wonder just how "real" the numbers are.
I have never in my life met anyone besides myself who has even tried linux.
Yet the stats say almost 1 in a 100 do.
They must live in communes.
As newer more portable devices get cheaper the trend may go towards less
complex operating systems.
For one thing the requirement to bring Windows up to date by downloading
gigabytes of updates is not so attractive on mobile connections. Seems
to me that if the OS were smaller / simpler there's be less to update,
and it follows, less to go wrong.
By it's nature some Linux Like OS is easier to cut down, since MS went
down the path of integrating everything with everything else as far as
their major OS goes they may fall behind others in getting something
smaller developed. In fact the key with Linux is that you start with a
minimal system and add only what you need. You think maybe this is
something MS might be a little concerned about?
