Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is corrupt

R

Rob

I attempted to reach my Firewall settings on the advanced tab of the
internet connections and the following error was displayed "Windows cannot
display the properties of this connection. The Windows Management
Instrumentation (WMI) information might be corrupted. To correct this, use
System Restore to restore Windows to an earlier time."

My research found only two options for a fix:

1. Try the restore method
2. Do an upgrade type reinstallation of Windows XP

I tried the restore option with nine different restore points and not one of
them would work. Figures...............

I am hoping to avoid the reinstallation of Windows.......

Does anyone have any ideas? FYI my OS is Windows XP Professional

Many thanks in advance, Rob
