Windows Mail

When I first try to open a mail attachment, I get a message "Windows Mail has
stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution." Then it takes me out
and in with aother message "Windows Mail is restarting." This time I can
open the attachment with no problem. Why does Windows Mail stop working the
first time? Any ideas?

Hard to say, but it could be caused by your antivirus. Which antivirus is it?

The easiest way to fix that problem is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail:
