I am trying to get on with a online game that has a internal email system
designed for outlook, or outlook express, vista does not have that, I have
been told that gmail might work with it, my windows mail keeps wanting to
take over when I log into the game,
How can I turn off, or if I must get rid of windows mail?????

Windows Mail is part of the operating system and cannot be removed.

Outlook Express won't run under Vista.

You can install Outlook, version 2003 or more recent, under Vista,
but it may be too costly for just making a game run well.

Here's how to make Gmail work with Windows Mail, if you want to:

Start | Default Programs
Set whatever mail program that you have installed as your default. Your
statement suggests than your game has not been undated for Vista. Perhaps
the program does not know how to detect the default mail program.
