I hope I am not multi posting. I sent this message about 30 minutes ago uit
does not seem to have arrived....

Does anyone know a way to have Windows Mail permanently active with an icon
in the Notification Area (Sys Tray) rather than having it take up so much
space on the task bar?

TIA

I did arrive and I replied.

Here's my reply:

Use Windows Live Mail. The mail client that came with Vista,
Windows Mail, is no longer being developed. Some periodic
security updates and junk mail filter updates, but it is dead and
at some point will probably be phased out. If you insist on staying with
a Microsoft product, WLM is the way to go. Similar to Vista's
Windows Mail, but with some added features- like retrieving
Hotmail for free.

I've tried WLM for newsgroup usage- I do not like it.
I use Outlook for email, so I don't really care about WLM's
email functions. For newsgroups, I think it is terribly slow
and unstable. Especially, if you participate in several newsgroups
and newsgroups with a lot of posts.

I didn't like the original Windows Mail, either.
I use Thunderbird now. Oh, it minimizes to the notification
area, too. It's just better than Windows Mail or WLM. Period.

But, here's the link for WLM.

And to Thunderbird;

Or, you can use this little program below to hide WinMail in the tray.
