Windows mail setup

B

Bob

I am trying to set up Windows mail to read my Microsoft Office Live mail.

Has anyone done this? All I get is that I need Outlook, but Windows mail
says it replaces Outlook,, but the steps I have taken do not work per the
e-mail I received from Microsft Office via an e-mail I sent from the site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

For your Yahoo account or do you mean from a Live account (or both)? You
just set each of them up in Tools - Accounts. Yahoo must be a "Plus"
account - see:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-06.html

And here are the Live instructions:

Live.com Settings:

Server names and ports:
POP3 = pop3.live.com Port = 995
SMTP = smtp.live.com Port = 587

Checkboxes you need to check include:

Server Tab: "My server requires authentication" (Click "Settings" button
also and fill in "Log on Using" email address - *** but do NOT check the
checkboxes there . . . .)

Advanced Tab: BOTH outgoing and incoming - "This server requires a secure
connection (SSL)"

General Tab (if desired but generally recommended): "Include this account
when receiving mail or synchronizing"

Should work - if you get errors post the entire error message (cut-n-paste)
for further assistance.

Windows Mail does not replace Outlook. Windows Mail replaced
Outlook Express in Vista. Outlook and Outlook Express are very different
email programs. Also, it is not clear what you mean by "Microsoft
Office Live Mail". Do you have a URL link for that? A Google search comes
up with nothing.
