Windows Mail / Gmail Folder synchronisation error

Can anyone help?

I have set up an IMAP connection between Gmail and Windows Mail. Email
synchronisation works, with one error which is:

Header download for the '[Google Mail]' folder did not complete. Could not
select '[Google Mail]' on the IMAP server. You might try refreshing your
folder list to synchronize with the IMAP server. Account: 'imap.gmail.com',
Server: 'imap.gmail.com', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Unknown Mailbox:
[Google Mail] (Failure)', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number:
0x800CCCD2

Do you know how I can fix this? I have tried to refresh my folder list in
Windows Mail by going to Tools - IMAP folders and clicking Reset List.
However, this did not make any difference.

Thanks,

Charlie

Sorry I don't have a solution, but I have the same problem. Hopefully
by adding my experience, it'll help make this topic more "visible" and
increase our chances of getting a resolution.

In my case, the questionable folder is called [Gmail]. It's a pain in
the neck because it says the folder doesn't exist on the server, yet
Gmail created it automatically... and it's the parent folder to
several other folders! I can't delete it, rename it, or anything.
Thankfully, it doesn't happen frequently, as this is a "secondary"
account that doesn't get much activity. But it's still an annoyance,
especially since it seems so simple, yet I can't fix it.

I am getting the same error from gmail. seems to be something that started on
Jan 2. I wonder if they changed something over at gmail that is causing this
error.

Hi Everyone

I am having exactly the same problem

Finally, thanks so much. I did this before but forgot it. The google outage
created an issue so I had to redo my accounts and this was invaluable info.
So easy I almost kicked myself for not thinking of it myself. Thanks again

I think i have got it working.

In windows live mail, right click on the folder called [google mail].
and on synchronisation settings, click don't synchronise.

Now it wont try to update an empty folder, and hence you don't get the
warning message anymore when you click send/receive!

Regards,

Dave
