Windows Mail doesn't conect to server

When attempting to receive messages from my ISP (Netvision, Israel), I
receive a messege that the connection timed out and it doesn't download
e-mail. It does indicate the number of messages waiting to be received. I
went over the account settings with a rep from my ISP and they appear
correct, so they sugested that I contact Microsoft. This problem began a few
weeks ago when we got a new computer with windows vista, and we haven't been
able to download any e-mail since then. Prior to that we had an old computer
with Windows 98 and Outlook with no problems receiving mail.

It would have been helpful if you had included a verbatim copy of the
error message.

Windows Mail often behaves erratically when interfered with by
some antivirus programs. Windows Mail is not compatible with
most McAfee and Norton security programs. Those will need to
be uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
