was online (chat) with yahoo support for an hour and have followed all help
and support type pages and tried all port numbers and configurations and
still get this common message: The connection to the server has failed.
Account: 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0E unsure if i have a firewall problemor what may be causing
this. i have windows firewall..and win firewall w/adv sec.. any help wold be
great..

If you have a Yahoo Mail Plus subscription, you are using the correct
server, but you must enable the SSL option:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
then make sure the SSL option box is checked for both servers..
It is surprising that Yahoo's tech support did not advise of this necessity.
I find that online documentation is often more reliable than live help.

ok checked ssl and i did check them.. it changes the port automatically but
made sure all stayed correct... apply, then still got this The connection to

You have the correct settings now, so it should work. One reason
it may not be working is not having paid Yahoo $19.99, see

Another possibility is interference from an antivirus program. Which
antivirus are you running?
Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
