Windows Mail and Snipping Tool

My question is with regard to inserting a "Snip" into Windows Mail.

If I use the snipping tool to snip a portion of text or image, it then
becomes copied to the clipboard. I can use the "Send to Email Recipient"
tool on snip to open a new email message with the snip inserted in the blank
body of the message. This all works fine, but I would like to do something a
little different and it doesn't seem to work. Let me describe what I would
like to do.

I would like to start an email message and proceed with entering some text
in the body of the message. Then I would like to use the Snip tool to snip
something and use "Paste" or Ctrl-v to insert that snip into the body of my
message. It would seem to me that this should work because the act of
snipping something copies it to the clipboard. However, when I try to paste
the snip into my email message, nothing happens. I have the option checked
for "Always copy snips to the Clipboard", and I have even tried doing Edit,
Copy of my snip but that doesn't help either.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this just the way snip works?

You can't paste graphics into Windows Mail, only text.
You can paste graphics into the newer Windows Live Mail, which has more
features, and works better.

Margaret, I just tried your suggestion. I made a snip, then saved it as a
..jpg file. Then I started a new email and entered some text, then tried
Insert, Picture, but couldn't do it because the "Picture" command was grayed
out. Did I do this right?

Did you close the snipping tool before trying to attach the picture?
Windows Mail has problems attaching files that are open in some
other program.

Yes, I closed the snipping tool before trying to insert (not attach) this
picture. I know I can attach a file to an email, but that is not what I am
trying to do. I am trying to insert the actual snip into the body of the
message.

I can understand that this may not be possible as Dave explained, but then
again if it is not possible, why does it insert a picture in the body if I
use the "Send to email Recipient" tool on snip?

If you compose a HTML message, then the "Insert Picture" option will work.
Still can't paste.

Make sure you are composing in HTML, not plain text.
Also, go to Tools, Options, Send, HTML Settings, and make sure
that "Send pictures with messages" is checked.
