If I don't keep active on my computer, Windows XP (Home Edition) logs me off
after only a minute or so. How can I lengthen the time before Windows logs
me off?

Try Start | Control Panel | User Account. Select your username and hit reset
password.

Ignore last post, replied to the wrong message.

Try Start | Control Panel | Display | Screensaver. Change the wait to
whatever time limit you want. If you don't want to be logged out when the
screensaver kicks in untick the on resume check box.

My box is uncheck and my ss still requires password. Logs me off completely.
I have to log in and go through the "loading user pref" thing all over. If
the box is unchecked what can I do?

Doesn't sound very healthy. Try another ss, and see if you get the same
problem.

Also try a virus and spyware scan
