Hey There,
I have a customer's PC running win xp home here and it hangs at the desktop
screen right after you click on the profile to log in to. So, basically it
is stuck at the desktop screen and the start-bar and desktop items are not
there. THis is the case in normal mode and safe mode. This happened after a
customer loaded Verizon software for his mobile wireless card. If I
ctrl+alt+del I do get the task manager and I can bring up a command line,
etc. I have been through the msconfig and unchecked every start-up item and
clicked on the OK and restart, but it woun't restart as it hangs while the
MSCONFIG is trying to make the changes. If I hard shut down and reboot, I
can bring up the msconfig again and everything is still checked. If I go
into the command prompt and try to manually kick start explorer.exe, it will
start to run but hang immediately, it does show up in the task manager. In
fact, if I start any program from the command prompt the program kicks on but
immediatly hangs before we get any sort of GUI. I have tried to kick on the
system restore from command prompt as well without being able to. Anyone
have a similar experience? Thanks for your time.
