I am using Windows Live Writer with Vista to post blog entries to my Windows
Live Spaces site. The program allows me to insert a picture, but the picture
never shows up on the website. Just a square with a little red X. Whats the
deal? Anyone know anything about this? Seems pretty simple and it should
work.

I doubt this forum is the right place for you. You should go to MSDN or
TechNet - internal MS forums (I think posting by subscription but I am not
sure) and ask your question at ASP .NET You may also be able to find a ready
answer in one of the old threads.

My absolutely wild guess is that you do not set some parameters right and
some browsers cannot handle your pictures or they (browsers) do not have
flash enabled, or it is blocked by the firewall.

Many systems may view your pictures as potential malware and you should get
around it.

Under Weblog settings, click on Images. Make sure that is set to "Upload
Images To My Weblog". Then click on Account, then "Update Account
Configuration". Basically it tells WLM what type of blog it is (like
WordPress) and how it should interact. Also, you didn't mention this, but
are you using the default "Insert Picture" or another plugin?

Yes, I am using the default. Followed your suggestions but still no good.
Live Writer downloaded the theme from my Spaces page so now the color scheme
is the same, but the pic still cant be seen on the blog. Thanks for your
suggestion, though. Maybe this is a bug?

I am able to use Live Writer to post images to both Live Spaces and
Blogspot, without any problems.
Is there something unusual about your image? Is it on a local disk? Is it a
very large image? Is it a .jpg, or some other format?

It is a .jpg. According to Windows Live Photo Gallery its about 62KB. Not
large at all.

Don't think so as I have posted pictures to my Spaces.

I'm wondering if the encoding for the .jpg may be at fault. Try this, just
do a test post. You can delete it from the blog control panel later. Try
posting a different graphic, and see if THAT works.

Where would I figure out how the file is encoded?

It's usually in whatever you use to save it. Win Paint, PaintShop Pro, etc.
Asks what of compression to use, blah, blah, blah.

I used Windows Update to download a more recent version of Live Writer and
the problem has resolved itself. Thanks for your input.
