Can someone explain to me the difference between "Windows Mail" and "Windows
Live Mail." I understand that MS released a new program called Windows Live
Mail to replace the Windows Mail. Where can I go to download the new email
program?

'Windows Live' seems to be a set of programs which build on and
improve the stock utilities delivered as part of Windows, and is
much more user focussed (around social interaction and sharing).
These programs also seem to be in development so, for instance, the
Windows Live version of Photo Gallery includes some new features and
works better. I believe the WL mail client is a big improvement over
Windows Mail, but I don't use either so have no personal experience
of them.

Thanks for the menu tip, I have been just hitting ALT to bring the menu up.

I like WLM better than WM. I can pull both my ISP mail account and MSN
accounts up. Also the newsreader seems more responsive when I perform the
Mark All--->Refresh--->New Headers routine.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that WLM will replace WM in a future
update.

Ever since installing WLM I have been unable to post to MS Communities
(I am posting this through Google because of the problem). I have
tried posting from WM and WLM but although my posts are marked as sent
mail, they never appear. Any suggestions to be able to post from WM or
WLM would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Babs,

You can download it from here. Plus, there is a link by the download
where you can read up on all of the features if Windows Live Mail.

http://www.vistax64.com/windows-live/92348-windows-live-suite-downloads.html

Here's the basics:
It supports Pop3, IMAP, HTTP website (EX: Hotmail) email, and is a lot
more stable. Plus, WLM will minimize to a tray bar icon and has a
separate Inbox for each email account. WLM will automatically import
Windows Mail messages, accounts, and settings into it. Contacts will
have to be manually imported from within WLM. (Tools, Contacts, File,
Import, Address book for current Windows User.) To see the Menu bar,
press ALT+M and check "Show all menus".

In addition to what Shawn said, here's my 2 cents worth.

Just wish they could have added a bit of functionality over OE. In fact,
they took a step backwards in some areas, must notably in OE you could block
the sender and it would delete all the posts from that user. Choices for
rules and views still leave a lot to be desired. The huge header view is
also a big minus in WLM. One big plus I DO like is that it interfaces with
Windows Live Writer (blog). Security is much improved in WLM as well. Choice
of whether I want to use it as my RSS reader would have been nice. I use
Outlook. Since it, Outlook, and IE use the Common Feed List it's not too big
of a deal. Just clutters the screen too much for me. DO like the ability to
access my hotmail without having to log into the website.
