Windows Installer

Windows Installer (small box) appears every time I try to move a file
or folder. It tells me that I need to put a CD into the computer and
is just plain disruptive. I can cancel it over and over and it will go away.

I don't know if this is connected to the Removal of Roxio and its files
or not, but it seems that I have started having this problem right after
I removed Roxio.

Thank you for your help..

have an option to delete the entry.

Does the message box indicate which CD it wants? Either in the message
itself or the title bar?

Does Event Viewer tell you which CD is wanted?

Here is what the little box says:
Easy CD & DVD Creator 6
The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or other removable
disk that is not available

Insert the Easy CD-DVD Creator 6 disk, click ok

Reinstall your Roxio software, restart your computer and then uninstall
it again. Be sure to follow good practices for installing/uninstalling,
such as closing open applications, disabling your security software, etc.

I don't have the Roxio CD's anymore. It was getting old and I
have no idea what I did with them. Or if I ever had them.
Thank you for your time...virg

Now I don't know who to believe. It appears that you and Leonard
Grey have an axe to grind.
When someone writes in to find a repair or fix, it should not be
that there is fighting and bickering going on.
Also, I think it is too easy to flame someone on a keyboard, but
more difficult face to face.

JS gave you the correct answer, if you missed it here it is again.

Leonard Grey is a troll who cannot fix your system. The guy is an idiot. If
you tell him the sky is
purple he will believe it because he is too stupid to look up and see it for
himself.

Thanks for the help. I took care of it myself by running Register Cleaner.
How does anyone get a problem taken care of with the problems that

Also, I did not appreciate receiving a personal email message to my

Hi "Virg",
Glad to hear your computer problem is solved.

There is no requirement that you use your real email address when posting to
usenet forums, and if you do, you should expect the amount of SPAM and other
unwanted email to increase. This is an UN-moderated Usenet newsgroup. It is
best to simply ignore OT (Off Topic) messages. Since your message header
indicates you are using Outlook Express 6.00.2900.3138, be advised that when
reading either a newsgroup message or email that you would rather not see,
simply press alt-M and S to activate the Block Sender option.

Also, all Usenet newsgroups are Plain Text forums, so in Outlook Express,
you need to click Tools> Options> Send(tab), and in the News Sending Format
area, click Plain Text. And click the Plain Text Settings button and be sure
"Uuencode" is selected. Some newsreaders don't display non-plain text
messages properly.

And the "3138" part of your OE version number indicates your computer is not
full patched at Windows Update. You need get the Service Pack 3 upgrade
ASAP. (The free installation support for SP3 ended in April 2009.) Without
the security patches in that SP, your system may be vulnerable everytime you
connect to the internet.

FWIW. (For What It's Worth.)

P.S. You should get a 2nd opinion before my or anyone's advice.

You should not use a real email address on Usenet when asking a question if
you do not want an answer by email.

For all the history of Usenet it's always been inappropriate to email
anyone without asking their permission first unless they asked to be
emailed in their post.

You are unethical and show it all the time PCBUTTs.

Go to your newsgroup's Properties and change you e-mail addresses to
(e-mail address removed) . There is no need to use your real address on
usenet and as you've seen it can be a problem. The address above has
been set aside specifically for this purpose. Anyone using that address
will never get a mail to you.
In OE it's Tools; Accounts; choose the account, go to the General tab
and change the address there to (e-mail address removed).
As for the robots and people like RT, well, your address is already
compromised so those mails won't stop soon. You can set RT to be
blocked, but the spam will continue.
Also, you can go to places like Yahoo, MSN and many other places and
get a free e-mail address from them. Then whenever something comes up
that you really need an address, say to subscribe to something, use that
one instead. If it gets too full of spam you can just delete it and
create another one. These are often called "throw-away" addresses and
they save you from exposing your real email addresses the the wrong side
of the tracks (spammers, scammers, imosters, etc).
And if you really must write an email address, write it as follows:
someoneATdomainDOTcom; in other words, don't use th @ and . since that's
what robots use to find addresses. Someone wanting to use it simply
replaces the AT and DOT with @ and period .

HTH,

Twayne`
