Hi everyone,
I've got some problems installing windows. I was in the process of
formatting my HD and reinstalling XP when I ran into some problems. The
format went fine, and everything seemed to be going OK. Then I got this
error message:
D:\I386\asms. Error Message:
The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is
no longer valid.
I don't know what to make of this. I had a clean (formatted) HD on the
first IDE port alone, and my CD drive on the other. At first I thought it
might be the hard drive, so I tried it with another drive. Then I purchased
an SATA drive. Same error message with all 3 drives. I was using an action
pack XP SP1 CD, then tried it again with an action pack normal windows XP
(initial release, i guess?) and got the same problem.
So ... I'm extremely confused. Can anyone help me out??
