I am attempting to install a second hard drive into my system. I would like
to do a fresh install of Windows. The new drive is in place along with the
old drive (which has Windows), the Windows XP "Checks" my system for another
version and it does not see Windoes on the old drive. Consequently I can not
insall Windows on the new drive.

Any ideas?

Thank you

You simply cannot install a OS with 2 IDE drives running.Physically unplug
the slave,run master for windows or C:,and install.If new hd,you'll need a
former windows OS cd for verification,if xp came preinstalled,or older
windows,
run the installation cd from mfg, then boot to xp cd,install xp,it'll verify
by having
the OS installed on hd.
