Occasionally when I try to open a .tif or .jpeg in Windows
Imaging, I get a window which says
This document's format is invalid or not supported.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's happening here?
Janet

There are some formats of those general file types that are not
supported by the program you are using. In other words there are
different file formats that are all "called" ".tif" and the same with
".jpeg", and the particular ones that give you a problem are the ones
that aren't supported by your particular program, hence the error message.

The 'particular program' I referred to is Imaging---the
Windows viewing program (i.e., accessory)! Is it possible
that Windows does not view all tifs and jpegs?
In any case, where can I find more info on different kinds
of tif and jpeg files (info needed for another problem---
see earlier unanswered post on Black Thumbnails).

I'm in correspondence with Irfan himself on a related
earlier post that no one has responded to (Black
Thumbnails). Will check your other links. Hope the first
one has info on tifs, as all my jpegs are fine. Thanks.
