windows genuine error

I recently upgraded a computers motherboard, processor, video card, and
powersupply.

I put everything in correctly and then when I went to start the computer it
got to the splash screen and then gave me the "Blue Screen of Death". When I
restarted the computer in safe mode it gave me an error saying that I dont
have a genuine copy of windows.

The operating system was fine before I upgraded the computer, I didn't do
anyting to the hard drive, and it is a lagite copy of windows XP home
edition.

You changed *a lot*...
You need to perform a repair installation of Windows XP to reset the HAL.

After all - you changed the chipset on the motherboard, the processor, any
"built-in" components (NIC? Sound? etc..) and the video card. At the very
least - you would have to re-activate - but with that much change - I would
guess you probably went up a few dozxen revisions of chipsets and a couple
of years worth of processors - heck - you may have even went 'dual core'.

Nothing ever told you that you did not have a legitimate copy of Windows
XP...

Windows Genuine checks are based on the motherboard components. Since you
have changed it, the WGA fails. You need to re-install XP (or do a reapir
install on top of the installed one) in order to "reset" the WGA info. Of
course this required a new activation.
