Windows Firewall Problem!!

A week ago I received the red warning in my systray area that my Windows
Firewall Service was stopped and I needed to restart it. When I attempted to
do so I got the following "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot
display Windows Firewall settings". I have tried various fixes listed under
previous posts and none have helped. I eventually had to stop the Firewall
and ICS services under the Services section of Admin Tools just to be able to
use shared printers and such.

No new software has been added and I'm running AVG antivirus as well as
regular checks with Microsoft AntiSpyware, Adaware, Spybot and SpySweeper.
These all turn up nothing suspicious. I need help fast. Thanks.
