Windows Firewall Problem

I was using a Windows XP VPN connection to connect to my home computer,
which is using Windows XP VPN server, from my laptop while away. One night
I accidentally click the "Restore Defaults" button in the Advance section of
Windows Firewall, and now the VPN connection will no longer work. I have to
disable Windows Firewall in order to connect to my computer at home. I have
fiddled with the firewall settings all night with no luck. I tried
restoring Windows to an earlier restore point, but that was useless. What
do I need to do to allow me to use the VPN connection while the firewall is
on?

If this is recent, why not try using Start menu/All Programs/Accessories/System
Tools/System Restore. Opt to: Restore my computer to an earlier time. Use a Restore
Point from a date just prior to when you clicked that Restore Defaults button.

Your VPN connection should be listed in your Firewall as an exception if it
is not then you can add the program. You may also find it easier to delete
your VPN and then recreate it again. If you are using VPN client software
then uninstall your VPN, restart your PC and then reinstall your VPN client.
