Windows File Protection

I recently started getting a Windows File Protection message box during
boot. It says files required for Windows have been replaced with
unrecognized versions. It prompts me to install my Windows 2000
Professional CD and when I do that it says it's the wrong CD.

How to proceed please?

Hi,

More than likely the problem is the Service Pack you installed is
newer than your CD. Basically you get the Windows Protection when the
files in the dllcache and the System32 directory are either deleted or
out of sync. Download the newest Service pack for your machine and
reapply it. It should clear up the errors.

Cheers,

Lara
