Windows Explorer

I am using Windows XP. Windows explorer defaults to a thumbnail view every
time I reboot my pc. I would like to keep the file view as "details". I can
choose any directory, set the view to details, choose tools, view and click
on "apply to all folders" but the setting will only last until I reboot.

Not rebooting is not an option.

Thanks

Thanks, that has solved the problem.

Can the limit be increased beyond 8000, to accommodate large music
catalogues for example ?

I believe 8000 is the max, but I don't remember where I got that from.
Since Kelly's edit put it at 8000 why would you pick that as an arbitrary
number unless it were a limit?

For the same reason that 400 was chosen as an arbitrary limit????

Yep, I don't know why it was set so low. I remember when the first 10MB
hard drives came out, and someone high in the computer world (don't remember
who) said they didn't know how anyone could use that much space...lol.
