Windows Explorer Tree-view

John Hansen

I wish to change the default tree-view that comes up when
Windows Explorer launches. Specifically, I wish to
have 'My Computer' un-collapsed, since I have to do that
each & every time I open WE. Any ideas?

Thanks

You need to change the 'target" that the shortcut to Windows Explorer points
to. Do a search on the Windows site for this subject and you should find
the specific "target" line you need. Right click the shortcut, click
Properties and click the Shortcut tab. The "target" line is there. If you
want to have Windows Explorer open to have the C: drive expanded in the tree
window and in the folder window then cut and paste this line in the "target"
box:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e ,c:\

Variations on that line above will make WE open in a myriad of
configurations. Note the exact construction of the line, spaces, slashes
and so on. Very important stuff. Leave out something and the next thing
you know, you launch a missile strike on Iowa. Good Luck!
