Windows Explorer Status Bar

How do I make the Status Bar appear every time I open
Explorer? I had it set up that way previously, but after
reinstalling yesterday I can't remember how I did it...

I keep bringing it up from the View menu, but it's gone
again next time I start Explorer.

Enable the Status Bar, press CTRL and close the window while you hold
that key.

Mr TM, holding down control does nothing in XP. I've spewed about this many times. CONTROL DOES NOTHING.
