Windows Explorer search not finding anything

I was looking for a document in the My Documents folder based on a word or a
phrase in the file. The word was june. I have many documents that have the
word june in them but not one of them showed up when I put *.doc as the
filename and june as the word or phrase in the file. Even if I don't
specify *.doc, and the only parameter is june, nothing shows up.

Why isn't anything showing up in a simple windows explorer search in Windows
XP SP2?

The files you are trying to search have no 'file association'. (Nothing opens
them automatically when you double click them) There are several ways around
that.
Associate them with Notepad, for example, or run a reg file to associate all
unassociated files with an entry,

---search_all_files.reg---
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*]
@="{5e941d80-bf96-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}"

--cut here--must include trailing space-

All of my documents have file associations - .doc opens with Word, .xls with
Excel, .ppt PowerPoint, .txt and .log open with Notepad, etc. If I ever
come across a file with no association it either doesn't need one (.dll) or
I create one. I am currently searching through Word 2003 documents for a
particular word in the file. It doesn't seem to matter what kind of file I
search for, very few, mainly none, of the files I know include the word or
phrase are ever picked up in the search.

I am not sure where your Yes and no buttons are in my test only Outlook
Express newsreader, but the answer is NO, this post was not helpful.
