Whenever I right-click on a file or folder in Windows Explorer, the context
menu appears instantly. But Windows Explorer then proceeds to use 99% of CPU
time, and the machine runs very sluggishly. The only way I can get away from
this problem is to left-click somewhere else, and hence turn off the
right-click menu. I have tried the solution on the MS website, which was to
switch of menu transition effects to no avail.
I have read things about certain applications causing this, so I have
removed WinRAR and Winzip's context sensitive shell integration. The problem
is unfortunately still occurring. I found an article that explained how to
tweak the right-click settings in the registry, but this was for Windows 98,
and I couldn't find any similar registry entries for Win XP. Can someone
please point me in the direction of an article that will let me see the
configuration of this in the registry.
Thanks
