Windows Explorer Is Not Working

When doing various things on my computer, Windows Explorer will suddenly
crash, mostly when dealing with multiple items on my desktop. The error will
be displayed, and then it will restart. I tried one trick which was posted
here, using RegEdit to get rid of unwanted shell handlers. I did, but it is
still not working. I have a genuine copy of Home Premium amd there is no
malware on it. This is really irritating me, and I am thinking about going
back to XP if it is not solved.

Thanks

What have you installed on the computer recently that may not be Vista
compliant that has lead to this problem? And are you for sure there is no
malware on it? Just because detection tools say the machine is clean doesn't
mean that it is clean, as those type of solutions can and do miss things.

The components running when these errors occur are all Vista compatible, and
some include actual Vista modules.

I'm running a TrendMicro scan now, I'll let you know of the results.

Error messages are being sent to the Event Log I assume. What are the errors
messages?

Hi,

Explorer doesn't just crash without reason, it does so because something is
interfering with the process. It could be antivirus software, it could be
malware (you may not be as clean as you think), or some other process. You
might also check installed plugins for IE, as IE and Explorer share several
modules and bad addons can interfere with explorer. Disabling them from
loading may help.

They're just Windows Explorer is Not Responding messages with the progress
bar for finding a solution and exiting.

I don't know about the event logs, but I was able to access them and I
zipped them some of them up into a file for you. Take a look:

Sorry, that's against Safe Hex computing practices that I follow.

If there is a error message in the Event logs it might be under System, then
you'll need to find that error and post the text.

Though using Vista for only two full days now, I know enough to ask "How do
you know what is or isn't Vista compliant, if Vista isn't telling you so?"
