Windows explorer has just stopped functioning, that includes all functions
related including the likes of My Computer, Network Connections etc.The
problem first showed when IE stopped working. Other non-windows related
progs are working fine.
I have:
Used system restore
Reinstalled Win XP
Has anyone got any ideas please - besides HD format and reinstalling XP!

What does a scan with a current antivirus program (meaning a version not
earlier than 2002 and using updated virus definitions) show? Also,
remove spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy from www.security.kolla.de
and Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure to update these programs
before running them. These programs are free, so run them both since
they complement each other. It is best to run antivirus and spyware
removal tools in Safe Mode.

Plus if you aren't able to update your definitions, which is sometimes the
case if you already have a virus, then try this free online virus scanner:

Had the same problem ad-aware and spybot sorted it out so please try this first b4 anything else

I have tried doing a virus check and did a scan disk as well but the explorer window for both windows and internet is still not popping up. All the other programs that do not require the explorer screen works well. i have resulted in browsing the web thru outlook and it is very limited. Is there another way to fix this problem?
