Windows Explorer errors and others

Running Windows XP Home SP2
Just recently I've been getting Explorer errors, most come as a result of
trying to open a picture folder but not always. The error message that
results from sending the data to Microsoft once in awhile has a link to check
for possible fixes, none of which worked.
As a result of these errors I just discovered the Event Viewer and it shows
close to 100 errors in the last three days! Not all are related to the
Explorer problem though. If needed I can post the log data for some of the
errors.
I'm at the end of my limited knowledge as to what to do next.
Note that I'm a OneCare Beta tester and still have my Norton antivirus
installed but disabled. I fear that may be a problem but not sure.
Need some advice about what to look for, find the problem and fix it.

Please post copies of the error reports.

Make an exact note of the precise text of any error message. Minor
discrepancies can
make it harder to search for information about the error message.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer.
When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event
ID, Source
and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click
for further information and you can copy using copy and paste.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the
error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two
pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your
message
(email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This will paste the
info from the
Event Viewer Error Report complete with links into the message. Make
sure this is
the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer.

In Event Viewer there is no facility to print Error Reports. A
workaround is copy and
paste the Error Report into an email, send it to yourself and print off
the copy in your
Inbox or your Sent Items folder.

One other thing that I've noticed is the task manager shows cpu usage at 100
percent and its's cisvc.exe that's the one doing it. Doesn't seem normal to
me?

I found another user with the same Explorer.exe error but no solution. I
wonder whether these errors are coming from your Windows OneCare beta.
Is there a Private Newsgroup for the beta (Microsoft Anti-spyware has
one).

The problem involving Registry Mechanic could be a conflict with Windows
OneCare. Is this error occurring during the boot process. You could
check by not having Registry Mechanic run until after booting the
computer.

You could uninstall Windows OneCare and see if the error messages are
eliminated. You can always reinstall.

Another explanation could by a virus or spyware.

Many users have the Indexing Service set to Start Manually and do not
use the Service. Start, Administrative Tools, Services

Sorry for the slow response to your suggestions but I'm not sure if any of
the changes I've made had the desired effect.
The MSMP.svc error doesn't happen only at startup but at random times during
the day. Not able to pin the errors to any one particular event. I've
submtted a bug report to OneCare beta and awaiting a pesponse.
Have not seen any Explorer errors now for a day and a half!
Yesterday OneCare's tuneup ran without a hitch.
Lastly I changed cisvc.exe from automatic start to manual and see no
difference in performance....yet.

Thanks for taking the time to help

As we speak I've just forwarded some additional information to the OneCare
support people as a result of my bug report.....now it's wait and see if they
have the info needed to shed some light on the problem.
I appreciate your assistance Gerry.
