Windows Explorer doesn't display drive free space anymore

In Windows Explorer on Windows 2000, the bottom left
corner of the window indicates the number of objects and
disk free space. How do I get Windows Explorer in XP to
tell the number of objects and free space in the bottom
left corner of the window?

That works for C: and any mapped drive. Why doesn't it
work for A:?

When I click on A: it just says 15 objects, the disk space
in parenthesis goes away.

Open a window, in the View Menu, click Status Bar to check it.

You might then set up the window in all respects as you would like by
default, then go to its Tools - Folder Options, make sure 'Remember each
folder's view settings' is checked, then click Apply to All at the top

View Menu, then enable 'Status Bar'
