Windows explorer default directory is startup

My understanding is that the default opening directory in Vista should be my
Documents folder, but mine goes to C:\Users\(user
name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

How do I change this to open to a different directory?

Right click the shortcut to Windows Explorer and select Properties/Shortcut
Tab.

In the Target: box, enter the path where you want it to open.

In your case, you would enter:

C:\Users\your name\Documents

Thank you for this reference to this excellent on point article. I guess my
problem was because I usually open explorer by right clicking on the startup
button. Force of habit. Is there anyway of changing the target given that I
open it in this manner?

Thank you again for the response.
