Windows Explorer Closes Window

Win XP Pro...
Whenever I open the lowest (last) folder in a hierarchy,
Windows Explorer closes - VERY frustrating! I can click
on the "plus" signs and open a folder within a folder
within a folder, but if it is the last folder in the
hierarchy, Explorer just throws me out back to the
desktop. My only workaround is to right click an do
an "Open" or an "Explore" in a new window, but this
should not be necessary.

Is there a registry setting I can tweak to fix this? Is
this a known problem? Any suggestions (short of
reloading XP?).

Thanks,

This is a known problem however microsoft has not released a fix or
workaround. Bonzi Buddy also is known to create a number of problems.
