Is there a way to change a regsitry key to change this value? I want to
install something and I have all 4.5's or higher except for video, and have
a 2.8 there. I need a 3 to get it to install.

Any ideas?

PS This is a laptop so I can''t upgrade the video.

Todd;
Try searching Google.
Someone has posted that information somewhere.
Remember if you change the number, that is all that changes, there
will be no performance change.

Do you have the latest Windows Vista drivers and BIOS?
Ask others that use that program if they know of a solution.
Contact the laptop manufacturer for possible options.

Turn off aero and all the eye candy if you haven't yet. That helps the
ratings go up usually. Use windows classic look.

Using Windows Classic would stop the usage of the graphics card for 3D
acceleration, and the work will then go to the processor. This may free the
graphics processor for the game, but using Windows will be generally slower,
AFAIK.

Out of interest, what is this that is refusing to install because of you WEI
score? I have never heard of this before.

You have to edit a particular XML file to artificially raise you WEI scores.

Oh, good to know. I have a friend at work who just got a laptop with
vista and was unhappy with it's performance. So we poked at it a bit to
see if we could improve it, and going from aero & eye candy to the
classic look with no eye candy enabled seemed to make his score go from
2.4 to 3.5.

Is there anyway to re-enable the setting to use the graphics card for 3d
acceleration?

I don't think so. AFAIK, the Aero theme uses the graphics card processor
for 3D acceleration, and Windows Classic does not.

As WEI is just benchmarking, the scores are bound to be higher when less
resources are actually being used at the time of it being run. If you shut
down all but the core necessary services I am sure you can get higher scores
still.
