cannot find file. This happens constantly and then it
asks for the windows xp professional disc to load. I do
not have xp professional just xp. Please help

You should be more specific.
When do you get this error? When you bootup the system?
When you start some application?

Try searching for the file which should probably be in
your \system32 directory somewhere. If you don't find it,
try extracting it from the xp cd with the command:

expand x:\i386\winupd.dl_ x:\windows\system32\winupd.dll

where x=your system drive letter

Now reboot and try again. Also, try running msconfig and
view the startup tab to see if there are any programs that
shouldn't be there or might be asking for this file and
you don't need this prog. anyway. If so, you can just
disable them and reboot to see if things are better. You
can always re-enable it back.

Winupd.dll is related to spyware / adware.
