Windows - Delayed Write Failed

I'm getting this message all the time.
"Windows - Delayed Write Failed. Windows was unable to save all the data for
the file \$Mft. . . "
Before today it never used to happen and I have not changed anything.
The computer is an IBM laptop T42 with XP Pro.
This happens while I'm browsing, using IE.

What can I do to fix this?

Can you do a system restore to the day before it happened ?
