I have a windows vista basic installed on my computer and windows defender
came pre-installed. My problem is it won't update and the latest definitions
installed were 4/5/2007. I have tried everything. I keep seeing this error
message:"0x80072f78". I also read that there is a new version of defender and
i downloaded it but it won't install because the message was "windows
defender came pre-installed with windows vista and installation will now
terminate". Can someone please help me with this? How can i update the
definitions and if so, how can i upgrade to the new version?

P.S. I can't find windows defender on the add/remove programs
